Tanzania Project & Eric's Dream

In honor of Eric Msechu, a member of our congregation until his sudden death in 2018, we have started a project to support the Shambalai Secondary School in Tanzania. Eric grew up in Tanzania where the level of poverty is unimaginable to us Americans. A teacher at the Shambalai Secondary School encouraged Eric that he could become an engineer. That teacher made such an impact on him that Eric went on to pursue engineering and got a scholarship to the University of Minnesota. He later got a job as an engineer with Intel in Folsom, CA. Eric believed very strongly that the best way to eradicate poverty is through education, and it was his dream to one day return to that school to teach and provide a library.

Now, Eric's wife Aisia, together with their children Aika, James, and Andrew, along with a group from Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, have taken on the task of trying to make Eric's Dream come true. Our goal is to work collaboratively to enhance the education of the students through projects like furnishing a library and building a well. The school currently has no access to clean water, so children are having to spend a lot of their time walking to fetch water from a stream. We hope that by providing a reliable source of clean water to the school they will be able to spend that valuable time studying instead, which will enable them to lift themselves out of poverty.

We are currently accepting donations to support the project.

We thank you in advance for your prayers and monetary support. For more information email
